What A Circus!!!

With a nod to Anthony Weiner ~

Men. Who. Risk. It. All. For. Sex.

tracking the antics
of men in whom
we place our trust,
good men behaving badly
caught with their pants down
on a world wide stage.
we do not need this virtual circus
smashed careers, fractured families.
will they ever learn?
that the 'men will be men'
analogy is lame,
there are no excuses

  1. ugh it is like a virtual circus these days....between the affairs and talks of succession....maybe you need to break out that badge and do a little busting...smiles.

  3. You said it, Helen! And I think it's going to get worse before it gets better.

  4. Amen Helen!! Power is no excuse for a lapse in morals.

  5. It all really boggles the mind, doesn't it?

  6. Yep, crazy and disappointing the risks they are willing to take.

  7. Ditto on everyone else. I feel so sorry for their wives and family.

  8. It is really a shame. I actually feel sorry for the men too. I agree - pretty dumb - but their careers are ruined, their home lives, and probably they feel completely idiotic. They were stupid. I give them no excuse. Only that power and a kind of lonliness== they've been deployed a lot too - and the culture they were in probably encouraged. People (men especially) are desperate for admiration. But well said here.k.

  13. I thought you were going to talk about the election. The rest was, I think, a side-show. Sadly.

BTW, when did you start working for the FBI? You? FBI? Oregano? What is our world coming to?

  14. Not just the men though -- surely!

  15. and is there an excuse for the media?

  16. Frankly, I don't give a darn whom anyone sleeps with (unless it's my husband!) as long as they do their job! Our country is so morally hypocritical. We bombard the population with sexual images, speech, and innuendo and then act shocked when people actually have sex. I'll get off my soapbox now.

  17. Just because they are in a position of power does not make them invincible! Very well put.

  18. so true..so wrong to use power this way...AND TV makes it a circus!!
I want to return my ticket and not watch all this on TV

  20. It does matter, but most of all it's pathetic... so pathetic.

  21. Oh, but he has the right name... he is such a weiner

  22. Indeed. Every time I hear anything related to "boys will be boys", I want to punch someone, and say, "No! They need to be themselves and treated as such." Everyone needs to take responsibility. We left the monkey behind a long time ago. So we can't claim that the monkey is the one doing it.

  23. Nicely written, Helen. Circus's are for spectator fun, their antics don't make fun for hardly anyone. The danger of getting caught adds to the excitement, I hear. Never tried that, although I did reject it once. I'd write about it but the 'goofy' offer was demeaning to women and sensible guys. Taking risks? Male animals will take risks with severe consequences for sex. That may be why we sometimes call these perverts animalistic?
    ..
BTW, I like your badge. Don't wear it while driving, that would be worse than wearing underwear with holes. Accidents or police stops.

  24. Apparently morality is no longer the benchmark!

  25. Agreed...we need people of better character as leaders, not circus clowns!

  26. To think they want to sacrifice all for what? Obviously an act reminiscent of opportunities presenting itself and acted upon without thinking!

  27. Yes, it seems to be a constant rerun of errors we are supposed to excuse.
