Lost ~~ My Youth

My youth is lost .. it's vanished
do not cry for me
with age comes something better
grace and dignity

My youth is lost .. my brashness
my utter naiveté
I’m older and I’m wiser
mellow, floating free

My youth is lost .. I’m grateful
for lessons learned each day
triumphs and the losses
mere words cannot convey

Would I return .. reclaim it
many songs yet to be sung
my body has betrayed me
my brain still thinks I'm young

  11. I loved your poem so much, it's now featured on my post. Isn't it so true, the brain thinks we're young and the body constantly reminds us we're not. Oh this made me chuckle.

Indeed; floating free and joy and pain...

  14. Sounds like a great place to be!! My youth is definitely long gone and I often find it kind of embarrassing to look back at my awkwardness and naiveté. Dignity and grace rule!!
