Making Jam

Battle of the Bulge

Today is my birthday
seventy-two
taking stock of my assets
I ask ~ wouldn’t you?

Uphill or downhill
waging girth war
aging requires I
keep raising the bar.

Too much fine food
is a definite vice
overindulge ~ and
I pay a huge price!

Time for my blood work
let’s see what it shows
cholesterol, glucose ~
{ I can still touch my toes! }

Staying in shape
the solution for me
in mind and in body
'Zen Zone' ~ living free!

Mind over matter
award me a star ~
I'm winning the battle
Wining the war!

  5. I really like your philosophy here, Helen. Happy birthday. You are the youngest looking 72-year-old I've seen. Smiles. I agree one has to keep raising the bar...and also doing what one can to keep that health.

  19. Celebrate and know you do not look your age. A poster once said "How old would you be if you did not know how old you were?" great poem and a battle I try to fight too

  20. And yet another birthday slips by me! At least, I'm not forgetting my own birthdays yet, and so it is that I sing:

    Happy birthday to you.
    Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you.
