Almond {Joy}

Ode to (Almond) Joy

I think that I shall never be
Adverse to candy can't you see

A bar that’s wrapped in chocolate goo
Makes me tingly through and through

Won’t matter if it’s dark or light
Chocolate my passion does ignite
Add some gooey coconut
And try to keep my mouth closed shut

Crowning jewel of this sweet treat
Almonds make my bar complete

  1. I always love chocolate & almonds, but coconut... not always. I'd much prefer reese's peanut butter cups or snickers.

  2. Ah, Helen! It has been a long time since I have had an Almond Joy, but I agree it is one of the most scrumptious candy bars!

  3. Almond Joy and Mounds Bars - a flashback to childhood. My dad would buy two bars for the 4 of us because there were two in each package. No cutting in half necessary. It was a rare and memorable treat, usually on a Sunday night, I believe.
    Great poem!

  11. I had to chuckle, Helen, with your ode to a candy bar! It reminded me of my childhood and the bars of chocolate full of roasted almonds that my grandfather bought for me. Smile :-)
