Lighter Than Air

For Karin & The Toads

Karin Gustafson ~ Artist

swing your gal
up off the ground
swing your lady
round and round
meet your partner
bow down low
promenade
and do-si-do

three steps forward
back again
kiss your partner
mind that grin
allemande left
allemande right
lighter than air
now hold her tight

I wrote this four years ago ~
when I saw Karin's artwork,
I had an urge to revisit it.

  5. Lovely and lyrical - definitely captures the energy of the dance so spontaneous and yet controlled, in the calling.

  11. Dearest Helen,
We all ought to do more of those 'Allemandes' and feel lighter than air!
Standing still and ponder about the little wonders we can observe around us.
Wishing you and your son a Happy 4th of July!
    Hugs,
    Mariette
