I'll Drink To That
Alphonse Mucha ~ Art Nouveau
I’m no beer snob
no siree
dark beer, light beer
it's for me
sudsy, malty
heavy, light
earthy, creamy
they're just right
weekend’s here
we’re off the clock
cheers to us
tick-tock, tick-tock
lusty, bawdy
such a tease
pour me another
will you please?
You captured the mood of this picture very well.
ReplyDeleteBottoms up!
ha, i'll sport you one if you'd like...i like mine dark with a bit of a head....like the dance in your words helen...
ReplyDeleteCheers! Enjoy :) Yes, you did capture the artwork really well with this fun piece :)
ReplyDeletei just love this one...fun all the way!
ReplyDeleteRYN: One of my great grandparents was Romany, so, I feel a kinship with them too :)
ReplyDeleteLove your capture of the image...lusty, bawdy I am such a tease
ReplyDeleteI almost chose this very painting to write to, but then everything went in a different direction for mine. Have one for me, Helen.
ReplyDeleteMmmmm. Love it! Happy Friday! And cheers! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh Helen I just love this, so clever! And now, I shall go pour myself a beer! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI love the playfulness in this, Helen. I can just hear your words coming from her. Fun interpretation!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit at my place.
A fun poem for Friday. Love the painting you chose.
ReplyDeleteI won't pilsiner in your pocket, but that is a mighty fine t-ale!
ReplyDeleteThe only question remaining is; Pony (7oz)? Middy (10oz)? Schooner (15oz)? or Pint (20oz)? What's it to be?
NB. These terms apply only in NSW Orstralia. Other states have other names, clearly to embarrass the out-of-staters.
You forget ... I have been to NSW, and what an adventure it was!!
DeleteYes, I remember... and if you go back to Cairns again, you will find they now understand New South Walesian!
DeleteThat was fun....as if the picture is reciting what you have written...
ReplyDeleteI'll toast that! Great fun...I enjoyed this and it fit the picture perfectly!
ReplyDeleteDelightful! I enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteK
This is playful!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI'll drink to that too, but make mine wine!
ReplyDeleteThis had quite the kick to it, already my vision is blurry ❤️
ReplyDeleteAnd one for me too. Cheers
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog today
Much❤love
Ill have a shandy ( beer and lemonade)... thanks !
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the rhythm of your rhymes. This one is a gem.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to crack a cold one, but I can barely ever drink a whole one. Love me an IPA.
ReplyDeleteI had my last bit of beer in 2013. Your poem has left craving a sip. Or, perhaps, just a sniff.
ReplyDeletehelen, as i write this i'm drinking a colorado native amber ale, cheers! loved the poem, it really hi the spot
ReplyDeleteDelightful! Though personally I dislike beer – which is very un-Australian of me. (An ice-cold glass on a stinking hot day is a rare pleasure, but rare is the operative word.)
ReplyDeleteA jolly little ode to suds and the drinking thereof!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your poem.
now, let me look for a beer.
Hmm...such fun! A lovely capture of a weekend. It's Monday but I'm already looking forward to one. :)
ReplyDeleteNice. I would like to say that I am no beer snob but then I remember that there are a few very popular American beers that I am very snobby about, although, to be honest, I will still drink them! I prefer to be able to taste the grains though.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I am a bit of a snob. I prefer stouts (keep the IPA far from me please!) and they always taste best paired with a good burger. However, I am such a lightweight I need someone to split the beer with.
ReplyDeleteLove how the poem sounds, can be recited, or sang! I still dont quite know which beer I like, but I love Hobgoblin, Lucifer, and Effes Dark.
ReplyDeleteCheers Helen! Your poem was so much fun to read.
ReplyDeleteI am having a white month... but in my basement I have 20 liter + of my own homebrewn... (I am a snob when it comes to beer)
ReplyDeleteHa ha... I love your cheeky poem, Helen.
ReplyDeleteThis could hung in any number of pubs here in Portland. Cheers to you.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say but Cheers! See you soon I hope...
ReplyDeleteHelen, I've never been a beer drinker, but! I feel exactly the same way about hard cider. Love the spirit (pun intended) in your poem.
ReplyDeleteI'm in, cheers Helen. So loved this.
ReplyDeletePerfect! I'll have another, Helen. :)
