Karin Gustafson ~ Artist
swing your gal
up off the ground
swing your lady
round and round
meet your partner
bow down low
promenade
then do-si-do
three steps forward
back again
kiss your partner
mind that grin
allemande left
allemande right
lighter than air
now hold on tight
Very Happy!! You really captured the illustration with your words, Helen.

Never you mind the grin. Well, maybe a bit.
ReplyDeleteI love your poetic dance-song.
Ah, so sweet--really fun and musical and clever. Thanks, Helen! k.
ReplyDeleteAll these brought back memories of how it had been - those wonderful old days! Thanks for the memory, Helen!
ReplyDeleteHank
Lovely and lyrical - definitely captures the energy of the dance so spontaneous and yet controlled, in the calling.
ReplyDeleteHelen, you had me smiling with this song (some foot-tapping too).
ReplyDeleteVery good, great lyrics of southern country song. So fitting for the image too.
ReplyDeletegreat dance. i chose this image too:) But i must have left my dancing shoes at home.
ReplyDeleteHa, you made me remember square dancing which I had forgotten.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cheerful dance you gave me... I felt playful reading it.
ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,
ReplyDeleteWe all ought to do more of those 'Allemandes' and feel lighter than air!
Standing still and ponder about the little wonders we can observe around us.
Wishing you and your son a Happy 4th of July!
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh, this made me smile. I grew up going to square dances.
ReplyDeleteMay I have the next dance?
ReplyDeleteLife is quite hectic right now, when I saw Marian's challenge I remembered a poem which seemed to fit and I enjoyed writing a few years ago ....
ReplyDeleteThis is the cutest thing ever.
ReplyDeleteSmiling here!
ReplyDeleteThis took me back again to square dancing when I was a teen.
ReplyDeleteLoved to read i again
ReplyDeleteYes, that was a long time ago wasn't it? Great poem.
ReplyDeleteA call for square dancing. Can you do this? I am not as big square dancing enthusiast but someone has to write the songs. :)
ReplyDelete..
What an uplifting dance of words
ReplyDeleteNice, nice. Allamande left!
ReplyDeleteThe music really did have this feel to it! And it is great when you dance with a man who knows how to move a woman around and swing her and dip her (I've never been "lifted" ... not yet :) One of the BEST men I've danced with was about 75 years old!
ReplyDeleteSets to a clapping rhythm with joyful abandon, lifts up high and holds so close. Such a great love song. And you paired it perfectly with Karin's drawing.
ReplyDeleteLove the revisit to the dance.. :)
