Waltzing With My Cookie Jars

let my poem be your dance

 Wikipedia

Old folks upstairs
asleep in their beds
chocolate and chip dreams
filling their heads

Kitchen is quiet
all tidy and dark
time for an exit
let's head for the park

The ponies are ready
carousel waits
follow me little ones
right through the gates

Peanut and Cupcake
Ham-Burglar, Pig
Good Dog and Dough-Boy
Jiggity-Jig

We'll dance and we'll frolic
all through the night
then head home for dreamland
as night becomes light

My Jars

  1. You know how I love a good rhyme. The rhyming and rhythm are perfection, not to mention the lovely carousel ride! A jiggety-jig of a poem, Helen!

  2. This is brilliant! The cookies made the people sleep so the cookie jars could go out and play.

  6. Helen, I love your fairy tale story, where the cookie jars come to life and ride the carousel all night, then sneak back home. Very neat looking cookie jars. My grandma had one but I can't remember what it looked like.
