saying goodbye was hard
five years my senior
i crawled in her shadow
she was like a 'big sister'
she was my first memory
sandwiches in a pasture
iced tea in mason jars
my mother's baby sister
last of five, spoiled rotten
they called her "Tootie"
primary school, four grades ahead
i would never catch her
though i tried, to her chagrin
life happened
years later our lives touched
reunions, weddings, celebrations
you and I always knew
love lasts forever
dearest Mary Lou

Dearest Helen,
ReplyDeleteNo matter how, but saying goodbye is very hard.
Each time a little piece of us dies...
But it all is part of LIFE.
Love will never die, be it between husband and wife, parent and child or 'just friends'... The soul lives on.
It made us what we are today!
Hugs,
Mariette
