~~~ imagine a moment of pausing, a still point of epiphany in the midst of chaos, hustle and bustle ~~
This morning I decide:
1. not watch or listen to news
2. not read the newspaper or open social media apps
3. blot out all political drama
I drink coffee, make cinnamon toast, find our Holiday CDs, gather ingredients for the 'annual fruit/cake/bake' extravaganza. { We love fruitcake! Doesn't everyone? }
Ah yes, the children .. they know 'tis the season to be jolly. Snow is in the air, snow is on our mountain, snow is everywhere!! I grab my sled .. and "yippee wheee" away I go! Baking can wait along with the news.
I loved the way you handled this prompt, Helen, making your own epiphany as it were: blotting out the news, letting in the snow, replacing politics with coffee and fruitcake. We need this kind of healing cheer now more than ever.
I loved fruitcake as a child, and as a result, everyone gave me theirs!
ReplyDeleteHa! And now for some much needed Positivity! Well-written, and so right to highlight the innocence of children...
ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,
ReplyDeleteA very wise attitude for a fun filled day!
I've been baking Amaretti cookies this Sunday, after a long time and the smell in the kitchen makes one happy.
Hugs,
Mariette
You really did a great job with this prompt. I love the fact that you shut out the world for the day and reflected on more important things!
ReplyDeleteYou had me smiling from beginning to end, Helen!
Those decisions are totally worth doing. Beautiful, Helen!
ReplyDeleteOh, for sure: all that baking can wait, but not the fun with the children, like children. Lovely. 'Tis the season, indeed. Loved this. Happy holidays.
ReplyDeleteThe news can definitely wait. I dunno about the baking...
ReplyDeleteYay! Straight for the sledge - that would be my choice too: let those bells jingle!
ReplyDeleteI loved it when I could just grab the sled and go out and meet the winter...
ReplyDeleteShut off the news and have fun and be merry. News are gloomy anyway. Enjoy!!!!
ReplyDeleteHelen, baking sure can wait! What a delightful read.
