Bakari .. St. Louis Zoo
Bakari Has Spoken !!
What if today
right here in this zoo
the focus shifted from me
straight to you
Turning the tables
upsetting the carts
me .. watching you
with all of my smarts
The plan is quite genius
you'll have to agree
you .. behind bars
me roaming free
You with the junk food
gadgets galore
out of shape human
need I say more
Just for today
let me be the one
laughing at you
having all of the fun
LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteLUV THIS another Planet of The Apes
much love...
Yes, just one day it would be an interesting scenario. Wonderful rhythm and rhyme, so silky smooth.
ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,
ReplyDeleteThis brought back memories of the Dutch Bert Haanstra who made a 1962 movie 'The Zoo': https://letterboxd.com/film/the-zoo-1962/
LOVE your text here above and even Bert Haanstra would have approved of it
😉
Big hugs,
Mariette
hehe, I can see it, as my belly jiggles from the giggles.
ReplyDeleteTo the animals, we are the entertainment Helen. I have watched how they look at us.
ReplyDeleteFirst, brilliant idea, second, brilliantly executed...very well done!
ReplyDeleteHA... and then we behind cage walls just play, have sex and eat all day long... you may wonder who is behind the bars really.
ReplyDeleteA fine idea to turn the tables, Helen!
ReplyDeleteGosh! I did you know I am out of shape!
ReplyDeleteLol Helen, this is such a fun riot!
Helen, oh how I wish it could be so, and not just for a day. Humans really do need to be the ones in the cages. Brilliant and wise.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of this, Helen, - and the rhythm and rhyme in it too.
ReplyDeletePlanet of the Apes, here we come! Maybe you guys will be better at this.
ReplyDeleteYour poem made me smile and say, "Yes!" Well done!
ReplyDeletethey can have my job, and my rent, i get all the bananas i can eat and a tire swing? sold!
ReplyDeleteLoving this Helen....especially since we were at the San Diego Zoo last week. I've often wondered, especially in the gorilla habitat, who is watching who???
ReplyDeleteI don't usually like zoos however San Diego has much going on here, at their Safari Park Zoo out of town, and in place around the world in terms of research and working to maintain endangered animals. Even their tram ride around the 100+ acre zoo educates, telling folks for example, how to think about sustainability and buying environmentally kind products etc.
Clever idea, Helen. Wonderfully written!
ReplyDeleteyes, I often think we are the ones who lose out, just don't tell anyone!
ReplyDeleteI love this. Who are the real monkeys here?? Certainly can't be me! 🐵
