Perspective

pipe dreams in living color

frayed remnants

from the past

 wrapped in cords of grief

our new reality

a slippery slope

navigating rocky trails

between denial and acceptance

jumbles of emotion erupt

when least prepared

setbacks, stopovers along the way ..

we learned to survive

on love we'd left behind

  1. Dearest Helen,
What a meaningful poem and also a true homage to great writer Elisabeth Kübler–Ross. Got all her books and it helps anyone coping with death in all its forms.
In the end, it ONLY is about the 'LOVE LEFT BEHIND'...💞
    Hugs,

  3. Helen, I also love the line Punam chose. It's a rocky road to travel after love's passing, but we find a way don't we. Tender and painful poeming.

  4. So many ups and downs. But the essence remains, close to our heart.

  6. this is so remorseful ... without self love it is most difficult to love fully from either side, great writing Helen!

The love left behind provides a convenient framework to help resolve the matter at hand. A great close Helen

  8. I feel this one, Helen. Just trying to survive. I came across a CS Lewis quote that seems to make some sense, though: "The pain I feel now is the happiness I had before. That's the deal." ~

  9. This touched my heart, Helen. Surviving on the love left behind is a scary concept to me.
