Bottled Up Emotion
turbulent sea, the tempest within
turmoil of feelings trapped under her skin
each thought a whisper, feeling a storm
bottle well hidden, cracks start to form
bottle of glass, where thoughts seek a cage
emotion is buried on life's smallest stage
cracks start to form, pressure takes hold
breaking the confines, warmth vs. cold
emotion will dance like drops in the rain
mirth like no other, you cannot contain
in letting go, unburden my soul
embrace sweetest healing, once again whole
In the dVerse Pub, Grace asks us to consider the merits of "Bottled Poetry"

This is gorgeously constructed, Helen! I especially resonate with this part; "a bottle of glass, where thoughts seek a cage/emotion is buried on life's smallest stage/cracks start to form, pressure takes hold/breaking the confines, warmth vs. cold."❤️❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,
ReplyDeleteLOVELY wording!
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh so beautiful! Love the rhythm & rhyme... wonderful imagery. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove the letting go of turbulent emotions (and destructive thoughts as well). The healing will begin once we let it go. Thanks for joining in Helen.
ReplyDeleteeach thought a whisper, each feeling a storm... I love this!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking about the similarity to brewing, if you bottle too early or too sweet it may explode from carbonation, but if you just have enough it will mature nicely.
ReplyDeleteI like the way the pace and rhythm of the poem builds up like bottled emotion, Helen. I also like the alliteration in ‘a turbulent sea, the tempest within’ a kind of ticking like a bomb. It’s never good to bottle feelings. I really love those emotions dancing ‘like drops in the rain’ and the gentle explosion of mirth in the final stanza.

ReplyDelete“a turmoil of feelings held under the skin”
I so relate to feelings being held and wanting to go somewhere else.
“emotion is buried on life’s smallest stage”
Better to unbury it than hide it and act like everything is okay.
Oh, this all so true--those buried emotions! I love the rhythm and flow of this, like a song. 💙
ReplyDeleteLove the rhyming and rhythm of this...I read it a second time, but aloud. And oh yes....not good to "bottle up" emotions. Sometimes though, it's probably a good idea to "zip it" -- at least as you count to 10. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Helen, love the rhythm of the piece 💕
ReplyDeleteBottled emotions have nowhere to go and sour, do they not? A bitter wine for sure. So well put here, Helen.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful way to advocate for letting it out.
ReplyDelete"a bottle of glass, where thoughts seek a cage
ReplyDeleteemotion is buried on life's smallest stage"
Brava, Helen! This is so well written.
I adore this! It reads like a dance between a love poem and a spell. And they look so good together.
ReplyDeleteemotion is buried on life's smallest stage - that's so beautiful...
