Today is Giving Tuesday 'round the World ~ in the dVerse Poets Pub, Merril requests poems focused on giving.
Farewell Sophie ~ Hello Habitat For Humanity!
What better way to share, to give
than to send Sophie off to
such a worthwhile organization
building homes for those in need ~~
after twenty-three wonderful
years, it was hard to say goodbye.
** nothing poetic about this I know, i said farewell to my VW Cabrio in
mid-September. Find myself reaching for the ignition in our new car (no key, a fob of course) which is a learning experience in itself. Her name is Greta.

Dearest Helen,
ReplyDeleteGift giving like that is wonderful!
Hugs,
Mariette
I have never heard about donating cars... have never heard about any organisations doing it... great to give your car a name.

ReplyDeleteA lovely gesture. :) Hope you travel many happy miles with Greta!
Very cool!
ReplyDeleteThe most worthy charitable organization. Good for you! H for H always makes me think of Jimmy Carter. I named my first car but never since. And we have a fob now two which I hate!
ReplyDeletetoo....duh.
ReplyDeletewe certainly do get attached to our wheels, as life would be difficult without them. I enjoyed this, Helen. Our Kia has been with Kathy and I now for 10 years, we’d miss her, though I’ve gotten to the point that driving at night is dangerous for me, but I’m still free as a bird during the day. Great write, my friend,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your beloved car is happier in its new life than sitting in a used car lot and certainly better than a junkyard!
ReplyDeleteA great use for an old friend
ReplyDeleteYou are a precious soul. Thank you for being you. And for sharing this wonderful bits of your life with us. They world looks so horrible right now. It's gift to see that there are beautiful things happening, too.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Helen. By the way, we had a Volvo named Greta!
