where am i headed
on this bonnie day
needing a challenge
to the labyrinth i say
what is my purpose
what will i find
as i aimlessly wander
clearing my mind
begging forgiveness
from those i've done harm
in my youth and in folly
ab/using my charm
today is a "truth" day
cleansing the air
conviction is forthright
on this i do swear
It’s Poetics Tuesday ~ we're with Lisa in the dverse poets pub !! Pilgrimage, Wandering and Walkabouts are on the "creative" menu today!

Two strong themes there that must, must be explored again and again I think, and here most fitting...
ReplyDeletethe wander
clearing the mind
and
begging forgiveness
from those i've done harm
in my youth and in folly
Inward honesty will pay in dividends.
ReplyDeleteNicely done poem.
ReplyDeleteI like your truth-day poem, Helen.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a challenge in the labyrinth, Helen, where one can aimlessly wander at one’s will. Enjoy your truth day!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a truth day where one looks back, regrets, repents and learns all while wandering. A very nice poem.
ReplyDeleteI like this wonderful post, Helen. :)
ReplyDeleteHelen, when I first looked at the images, I thought they were pieces of jewelry and/or ceramic tile designs. It was only when I enlarged the image that I see they are fabulous labyrinths!!!!!! Oh my, Helen, I love the thought of you meandering through labyrinths. If you went, please will you share your experience? I love OP's comment <3
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa! I found the images on Unsplash and created a collage. We have a labyrinth on the grounds of a large church close to our home. I do love walking it.
DeleteHi Helen! A lovely sentiment here. This happens as one ages--though you don't show it! But wanting to make things right. You describe it well. Hope all is okay! Karin (Manicddaily)
ReplyDeleteHelen, this is so heartfelt. "Truth day" sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a journey to clear the mind, a pilgrimage to find forgiveness, at least that's the way I read this most lovely poem.
ReplyDelete“in my youth and in folly
ReplyDeleteab/using my charm”
Honesty is the first part of making amends I think. Being aware of what we’ve done wrong and making effort to change it, even if no one forgives us, there’s a bigger picture, which you’ve captured.
