Rommy has requested we write [poetic] letters to our bodies ~~~ well here goes!
Birthday is coming
eighty plus three
taking stock of my assets
what will I see
Uphill and downhill
waging girth war
aging requires I
keep raising the bar
Too much fine food
a definite vice
overindulge and
I pay a huge price
Time for my blood work
let’s see what it shows
cholesterol, glucose
all normal ~ no woes
Staying in shape
the solution for me
in mind and in body
'Zen Zone' ~ feeling free
It's mind over matter
award me a star
I'm fighting the battle
I'm winning the war

Dearest Helen,
ReplyDeleteEspecially our Mind is so important and for not punishing ourselves too much.
Life is hard enough and the health battle is a constant one.
But with a sharp and positive mind we can lift our bodies from the downhill fast track!
Hugs,
Mariette
Your view on life is everything, especially if you are in reasonably good health and Zen Zoned. Happy Birthday, Helen, and many many more!!
ReplyDeleteI have spent far too much of my time beating myself up about one thing or another and now I try to not do that it achieves nothing. I hope you have an awesome birthday
ReplyDeleteYay for good lab test results!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! In my experience, the battle gets harder each year
ReplyDeleteI do indeed award you a star! And your photos don't indicate much of a problem with girth. (You should see mine, lol.)
ReplyDeleteWell done you Isn't it a battle to find the balance bnetween indulgence and health. Not easy
ReplyDeleteExcellent! You get several stars!!! As long as that blood work turned up just fine, enjoy your life...!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed your break...You 're a rock star Helen...You look great !.....Rall
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday - may your body and mind be happy - Jae
ReplyDeleteGood luck with that fight. When it arrives, I hope it is a lovely birthday.
ReplyDeleteStanding in for Grandma Bonnie Peters, who invited other people in the rehab facility to walk with her while recovering from a stroke at age 85, I award stars to all who manage to keep their bodies in shape after age 80. I'm having trouble getting enough exercise while avoiding chemical vapors, and I'm not even 60 yet. Cheers to you!
ReplyDeleteThat was Moi, Pris cilla King. Silly Google, thinking not recognizing people when they're logged in is the way to get cookies!

Happy 83 Helen. Enjoy!
