Cradle to Grave

 Breath ~~

in the beginning

a warm new note in the world

small waves find a rhythm

an easy song

years spool forward

breath a steady metronome

guiding hands in work

a quiet hum in the bones

until finally bodies loosen

bones release their stories

 whispers of gratitude leave

with gentleness well earned

  1. Your words set such a tender tone ... and what a lovely way to view it, "bones releasing their stories" in the end.

  2. Dearest Helen,
    Indeed, whispers of gratitude leave...
    But our souls never die!
