Innocent? / Guilty?

It's  Haibun Time in the Poets Pub ~ Merril is hosting ~ the focus is on "Time Travel"

Ladies and Gents. Let the record show this photo proves that back in the 70's, 1978 to be precise, the lady in question, the lady you see here before you today, was quite the gad-about. Jumping onstage, hogging the spotlight whenever and wherever she could. A show-off to her core.

Now, let me ask you, my friends .. does she deserve the punishment we are about to inflict? Does she deserve to live out her days with no music, no dancing .. no social network, shunned by family?

I think not, I think not. Now you may step down from the witness chair, my dear .. oh wait just a minute while I fetch your walker. Turning 100 tomorrow deserves to be celebrated, don't we think? Thank you jurors, you are dismissed.

winters of our lives

are to be celebrated

no matter the age

  1. Its sad that an older person might feel the need to "prove" they were once a younger more vibrant person; that they might feel punished or shunned in their old age. Glad she had her day in court and is seen to be all she ever was and is still.

  3. So many young people get shocked when they find out the stuff their parents and grandparents did when they were young.

  4. Indeed it should be so.... I feel that we are being shunned away ever younger and younger.

  7. Great haibun, Helen! While there is still life in us, we should all be dancing!
