Time for Prosery in the dVerse Poets Pub ~ Mish is hosting and introduces us to Gordon Downie, Canadian musician, author, poet, songwriter, storyteller and activist. Mish chose this line from Downie's poem "Starpainters" to use in our prose.

New-found friends, off to see the world, approaching said world as though it were a gigantic defective transit map. [this journey had the potential of ending horribly.]
In Paris, they boarded the Orient Express for Vienna, only to awaken in a foggy freight yard outside Bratislava. A rusty switch in Kyoto sent them rattling toward mountain snows ~ not cherry blossoms they were dying to see.
Months of iron rails and misplaced platform tickets became their shared language. Yet, somewhere between the off-kilter itineraries, and the derailments, both stopped feeling like abject failures.
The starpainters were taking over now. Friendly frictions became a real track, clashing personalities gave way to happy travelers ~ stepping off that final, sun-bleached platform smiling, exhausted ~ bound together forever.

Maybe it is always your travel companions that matter more than what you see on your journey.
