Must Be A Dream

Out here in the open
Feelin’ free ..
Keyboard in a pasture
Let me be!

Ticklin’ the ivories
My ten toes ..
Trippin’ to the music
Heaven knows!

Ticklin’ the ivories
Chopsticks style ..
Improvisin’ magic
With a smile!

World's gone topsy-turvy
Can you tell ..
Toes becomin’ fingers
What the hell?

Feelin’ cool and groovy
Am I high?
Ticklin’ the ivories
'neath blue sky!

Out here in the open
Feelin’ free ..
Keyboard in a pasture
Let it be!

  16. What fun. I had an aunt who had such long toes she could play chopsticks with her two big toes. This is fun!

  17. I KNOW those are your toes :) My son would see a (maybe baby) grand piano on wheels brought into central park and played beneath one of Frederick Law Olmsted's arches - they guy would make a TON of money busking. My son would take his guitar and search out another place. ha ha. But I think a piano in a meadow would be even lovelier!

  18. Playful, with just the right dash of subversion. Maybe others might not find the melodies played this way to their taste, but as long as the subject is enjoying themselves, that's all that matters.

  22. Ah...! loads of fun. Your words danced on the keys. They remind me of my son when he was nine months old. He loved to tickle the piano with his toes.

  23. I see comments from 2014, 2019, and 2021. That's a long time ticklin' ivories in the pasture, but you're such a fey spirit you'll be back in that pasture in a year or two methinks!! What a lilting, carefree write. I loved it!
