Maladroit: bungling, clumsy,
awkward, inept, bumbling, ungainly, gauche, ungainly
London Fashion Designers, 1945
Enter Ms. Maladroit
yes, that Ms. Maladroit
a virtuoso navigating social
strata
accomplished in the fine art of the hidden agenda
tonight she 'plays awkward' to the
hilt
knows it's often the ultimate
equalizer
pulls the elite down to a relatable level
for the benefit of all ~~

Oh.. she must be the niece of Mrs Malaprop...
ReplyDelete... indeed she is!
DeleteSuch a wonderful weave of the word, showing it can be a generosity for the benefit of all. Well done.
ReplyDeleteIt's a skillful hostess who knows how to put everyone at ease. Hopefully the effort isn't too draining.
ReplyDeleteMiss Malaprop's wit and wisdom "The pineapple of politeness" (instead of pinnacle of politeness) and of course, we all remember Archie Bunker... But that beautiful lady in the photo - is she an actress that portrayed the character? Somehow she looks perfect :) Ultimate equalizer, indeed.
ReplyDeleteBjörn beat me to it! I love this character portrayal, Helen, and the way you created its slightly catty, chatty tone with a single aside.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fine woman she is!
ReplyDeleteTo be able to successfully navigate (especially its most entitled children), at any time in history, is a superpower. What a woman.
ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,
ReplyDeleteLove the introduction of the deux pièces, a more manly style of freedom for women in 1945! Wish they would pick up more from our stylish First Lady who by the way is not at all 'maladroit'...
Hugs,
Mariette
I love the reference to hidden agendas. Wonderful Helen!
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteBravo! I love how you did this~ Such a clever, playful poem!
ReplyDeleteWitty side of maladroit. Well done, Helen!
