Candy is Dandy

wikipedia

Ogden Nash wrote  ~~
candy is dandy
but liquor is quicker

I'm feelin' randy
no time to bicker

time's sure a wastin'
lips are for tastin'
mine taste like cherry
come let's make merry

takin' my chances
makin' advances
sharin' my candy
no rum no brandy

love is my plan
sweet candy man

  1. Ha! This could make a great rock song! 2nd poem I read tonight that I think would found great as a song, sung maybe by David Bowie...and as for your cherry lips.! nothing tantalises more than a cherry taste, and indeed colour!

  3. Whistles!!!💝💝 What a delicious delicious poem this is, Helen! Wow! I am mesmerized by the cadence and flow especially; "lips are for tastin'/mine taste like cherry/come let's make merry." I second that! Thank you so much for writing to the prompt!

  8. Dearest Helen,
Lovely poem and having had waffles with cherries yesterday makes my lips also taste like cherry but NO candy.

  12. It reminds me of the way a '60's bubble gum song would treat a boy meets girl moment
