Back In The Day

The 80s

Birthed in Detroit

they say she possessed

hypnotic charm

(hardcore, if you get my drift)

Man could she sing!

Give her a mic, a few backups

bass, drummer, keyboard, guitar

let her hit those downtown club stages

She gave 'em what they needed

jazz enough to tame

their inner ''Motor City' beast'

sass enough to face

tomorrow's production line

  1. I love it, too, and can see YOU, Helen, behind the mic, dazzling the crowd. Smiles. I always sang, too, but, alas, was too self-conscious to do so in front of people. Silly me.

  10. That release that comes from music after a day on "the production line": a few have the talent to provide it and how! (Is that a picture of you, Helen?)
