Saturday night, the usual crowd
as is the custom, I mix cocktails.
you manage the music.
[ tell me, are we bored yet? ]
bodies gyrate to the steady thrum
of a jazz drum
simply going through the motions
[ the usual crowd on a Saturday night ]

Hope your Saturday night will be more fun and lively!
ReplyDeleteHelen, I cant imagine you EVER being bored - on a Saturday night, or ever. You are way too vibrant a person. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteAt the Red Wings games on Saturday nights they always play Billy Joel singing "Piano Man." It's nine o'clock on a Saturday, and the usual crowd shuffles in...
ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,
ReplyDeleteGreat poem about the many, almost robotic things we humans do!
Hugs,
Mariette
When what was once exciting becomes boring, because we do the same things over and over again, and it starts to feel more like work instead of pleasure.
ReplyDeleteSounds like my kind of night, Helen! Enjoyed this :-)
ReplyDeleteI find the idea that one would ask someone else if together they are bored, yet intriguing and appealing.
ReplyDeleteA lively night of fun, surely!
ReplyDeleteRoutine does rob the excitement. I hope you had a fun Saturday, Helen!
ReplyDeleteEven fun becomes less so when is repeated too often. At the risk of committing cliché in the first degree, can't have too much of a good thing.
