Happy Time

Oh the giddy feeling

when my gas tank is full

possibilities seem endless

in winter up to mountains snowy

earmuffs, boots and heated gloves

my cheeks flushed with happiness

spring drives out to flat-lands

wildflowers in their blooming splendor

birdsong playing on surround

summer and the top is down

fragrance of freshly cut hay

sunshine on my shoulders

fall in my smallish city

aroma of chimneys and fire-pits

long walks, warm cider, s'mores with friends

In the dVerse Pub today, Sarah asks us to choose three things that make us happy and write a poem .. weaving in those three things.

  1. From the poems I have read so far, we are all cheap dates and happier with the simple things in life, nature and friendship. I enjoyed your poem, Helen, and love the progression to autumn, my favourite season.

  2. I like your seasons too. I would tune golf into these, Spring break out some new clubs, summer start early before it gets too hot, and fall relax and don't try so hard to make a better score. My SIL has gone to your 'little village' from here a couple of times to play golf. Your mentioning that set my thinking key for singing.

  15. I like this jaunt into the seasons with a full tank of gas. Each season has gifts to offer, especially to folks like you willing to find happiness anywhere, anytime!
