Mother and Daughter
[ While sitting at the bar trying to flirt ]
when trying to catch an old guy's eye
you don't want to risk things going awry
be mighty careful ~ who stands by your side
it's a long long way down ~ a whirlwind slide
she's now an adult ~ a beauty bar none
men take one look ~ brains come undone
comparisons painful ~ this one more so
energy, innocence ~ her porcelain glow
no way to top this ~ though I am his age
that has no bearing ~ shoved from the stage
I know it firsthand ~ no hope for this Frau
my time has passed ~ best take a bow!
** yes, it's a true story, a funny one too!
Celebrating National Friendship Day in the Pub .... Laura asks us to compose a poem (written in couplets) about a pair / a couple / no groups / no gaggles.

Ladies, you are both beautiful. Can't believe this is a true story but older women are certainly more mature and secure.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, it is true and not that long ago. I thought I was on my way to a dinner date maybe, sparks (I thought) were flowing back and forth ... until Beth walked up and that was that. He had eyes, only for her. We laughed about it uproariously later. She told me he was a jerk and didn't deserve me.
DeleteYou and your daughter are beautiful, Helen, and so alike! My daughter and I have totally different tastes in men, but I think your poem was written with your tongue firmly in your cheek!
ReplyDeleteGuilty as charged. Beth and I have very similar tastes in men ...
DeleteOh Helen this was such a touching tribute - past and present wrought in the bonds - loved this line especially
ReplyDelete"energy, innocence, porcelain glow"
Thank you so much, Laura.
DeleteAge teaches grueling lessons in acceptance, but it's how the heart waxes full. Couple of stone cold foxes as far as this old man can see!
ReplyDeleteWell, thank you very much kind Sir! Lessons learned over many decades, many.
DeleteIt always warms my heart seeing mothers having close relationships with their daughters.❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you, ours is incredibly close, I am blessed.
DeleteAh, lol, some old dudes never learn! This was a fun read! Made me laugh. (Chu On This)
ReplyDeleteLaughter for what ails us ... the best. Thank you.
DeleteFabulous poem!
ReplyDeleteWell said. Mature and secure. You and your daughter do look so alike. Both beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sherry .. she is also my best friend! Closer than close.

Tristan....SMILES ! .......FROM RALL
LOL .. it was Phil.
Deletethat dude didn't know much ~ of that I am sure
ReplyDeleteladies at my age? mature AND secure!
Agreed Helen! All those oldies often misread their minds blindly! Love your humour, Ma'am!
Hank
Thank you kindly, Sir Hank.
DeleteMany older men don't really understand what is best for them I think.
ReplyDeleteWay, way too many. Enjoy what's left of your weekend, Bjorn.
Delete"she's now an adult with beauty bar none

You and your daughter are trés beautiful
Much💚love
Thank you for the sweet comment, Gillena. Wishing you a splendid day!
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful women! The older a man is, the younger he wants a woman to be.
