Meeting the Bar ~ Laura challenges us to write a Cherita poem ~ an unrestrained and undemanding poetry form.
Gold Coast ~ Australia
seasonal
cusp down under
southern hemisphere friends
ready for fun in the sun
woe is me, stuck
above the line of demarcation
****
winter on its way
amid fantasies of frolicking
topless on a gold coast beach
i vow to make the best of it
no way to halt what is coming
time to don my "stoic" hat

Lovely Cherita, although being here stuck in a Queensland summer of humidity, I can tell you be careful what you long for LOL! I have to be stoic to make it through with a hand from the air con. I do hope you enjoy your trip next year to the Gold Coast...me I'm planning a trip to Scotland lol!
ReplyDeleteI'm always thinking of the beach, summer and winter. You have something to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteThey can have their turn down under. I'm stringing lights to hold back the night!
ReplyDeleteOhhh I've been getting some spam too.
ReplyDeletesuch wishful thinking - and a nice fun touch to your Cherita
ReplyDeleteWinter is here too. But we can all dream about that gold coast beach. How exciting to be planning for that next summer.
ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,
ReplyDeleteYes, Down Under would certainly warm our souls...
Hugs,
Mariette
Reading this, I feel as if I just traveled there!
ReplyDeleteSounds lovely, although it can get a little too hot for comfort down under.
ReplyDeleteAh yes chin up!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog
Much♡love
Happy dreaming! I hope you have a wonderful trip.
ReplyDeleteNow we have snow here, and that meant that we could be skiing... all of the sudden winter is nice.
ReplyDeleteA good imagination is a lifesaver.
ReplyDeleteDreams of summer will sustain through winter.❤️
ReplyDeleteHi Helen — I’ve really enjoyed the OLN Live Thursdays, sorry to hear they’re going away. Reading and contributing to the poetry of the d’verse online community has been wonderful, and I hope I am able to in the new year… it is my intention — when possible. Kathy comes home this Wednesday, and it appears we will be rejoining her battle, so my writing may be less frequent into the future — we will see what presents itself, as I am also dealing with my own issues. This is my 20th year posting poetry online, across a number of wonderful organized sites… and it is a joy I will not allow myself to completely abandon. I am sending this message to those in this dVerse community to whom I am most drawn, and who have shown me consistent kindness. Happy holiday to you my friend. You are a pleasure to read. ✌🏼🫶🏼
