Moonlight Magic

Tuesday and it's time for Poetics in the dVerse Poets Pub ~~ Kim has asked us to choose a favorite piece of classical music as inspiration for our poems.

Claude Debussy was a French composer. He is sometimes seen as the first impressionist composer, although he vigorously rejected the term. He was among the most influential composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Clair de Lune

This is the most beautiful classical music piece I know.

notes move gently
bar by bar
sweet portal to the realm
where poetry and music
intertwine
my soul is cradled in the
embrace of a celestial serenade
my heart rests under a spell
that lingers
long after the last note
has faded into the
stillness of night

    A true celestial serenade...

  2. Helen, you've turned music into words in a most pleasant way.
    "soul cradled in the
embrace of a celestial serenade" perfect <3

  5. Oh Yes. I like Clair de Lune, it is a token of peace, peaceful listening. My favorite line in yours will be "my heart under a spell that lingers." Not sure I've ever been there.

  6. Thank you for adding the information about Debussy, Helen, which some of our fellow poets may not know. I love how you followed the ‘notes moving gently bar by bar’ and the piece is a ‘sweet portal to a realm where poetry and music intertwine’.

  8. Such lovely imagery, Helen, that suits the music to a tee, esp.: "sweet portal to a realm ..." -- The best music is, it just opens you up to another realm.

  17. I LOVE Debussy. I remember a couple pieces of Debussy sheet music I had back when I was taking piano lessons. Magical this, when poetry and music intertwine. Thank you xo
