Leaping
lords and lizards
a plague is upon us
where do we run where do we hide
in a world filled with deep pain and horror
no place to run no place to hide
the duck, bob and the dodge
as futile as
leaping
Always
the same mistakes
we seem destined to make
poverty, disease and hunger
climate change, war and inequality
we have great minds and resources
yes there are solutions
fight the good fight
always
Rictameter is a scheme similar to Cinquain. Starting your first line with a two syllable word, you then consecutively increase the number of syllables per line by two. i.e. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 Then down again, 8, 6, 4, 2 Making the final line the same two syllable word you began with.
An apt form for ‘leaping lords and lizards’, Helen, and I love the shape. Sadly, humans never learn from their mistakes.

I remember an interview Michael Moore did in one of his movies with a NY stockbroker, who was a brilliant mathematician iirc, who loved math and probably could have gone on to develop an anti-gravity device or something but was instead lured by the $$$$ he could make on Wall Street.

ReplyDeleteIt's a mystery to me too Helen...I was just reading another story of local corruption in the paper this morning and wondering how is it that humans are so greedy and mean? Even in such small things. But you are right, we must not give up fighting against it.
