Today is Tuesday ~ Time for Poetics in the dVerse Poets Pub! Lillian offers four paintings from the works of Catrin Welz-Stein ~ we are to choose one as inspiration for our poems!
I got my eyes on you / know you're playing games
nothing but a playboy / i'm onto your false claims
saw you with that blonde last week / pretending you're just friends
by the time i'm thru with her / she'll wish for those split ends
think you're sly with secret texts / those whispers in the night
my eyes have xray vision / you're really not so bright
late night business meetings / gym trips that never end
i tracked your steps / i hacked your phone / i know the facts you bend
you've had your fun / and played your games / but now the jig is up
remember dear i got these eyes / start drinking from MY cup
eyes are focused on you alone / so cherish what we got
or soon you'll find your toothbrush / scrubbing places it best not !!

This is hilarious 😂 But a bit dark too. Though she's justified in taking steps to keep her man, she seems to be a bit stalkerish. That adds to the fun though!
ReplyDeleteDearest Helen,
ReplyDeleteYep, my eyes have x–ray vision. That is more or less what Pieter told me one week before his death: You have extraordinary keen senses and that was one of the reasons he so loved me... We can see through most people.
Hugs,
Mariette
OMG
ReplyDeleteYour eyes are quite focused
He's in troubbbleeee
Much♡love
HILARIOUS! LOVE IT! I am chuckling out loud! You have an absolute gift for the comical, my dear. SOOOO glad you went this route!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I don't want to get on your bad side. Nice poem.
ReplyDeleteWhat eyes she got and he better watch it. Love your take Helen!
ReplyDeleteYour poem Elen interacts with the play!
ReplyDeleteThe eyes are the main feature of both! I really like it,
it brings out different truths for each of us (according to what we have experienced)!
LOL! This was so good. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteI love the shape, form and rhyme scheme of your poem, Helen, and the sassy first person speaker is both witty and scary! I especially like the way the pace ramps up in these lines:
ReplyDelete‘i tracked your steps / i hacked your phone / i know the facts you bend
you've had your fun / played your games / but now the jig is up’
and
‘eyes are focused on you alone / so cherish what we got
or soon you'll find your toothbrush / scrubbing places it best not !!’
Helen - I can always count on you to make me smile if not a full on belly laugh - hilarious...
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous, Helen. I love your rhythm and your rhyming scheme. It really flows so well. Hopefully he will get the message!
ReplyDeleteI am glad if the revenge is limited to the toothbrush... but the stalking of your spouse is normally not sound.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm definitely too old to be bad; good behavior provides a far better reward. And if I'm ever tempted again, the thought of brushing my teeth with my wife's behind slams the door shut on the Penthouse Letter Mill.
ReplyDelete"my eyes have xray vision / you're really not so bright," .. ah yes! It's easier to pick up on the clues once we learn to see through people. 💖💖
ReplyDeleteHa! Great selection, oh, those eyes! Old toothbrushes work good for scrubbing nasty corners in the window sill or, better yet, the seal around the base of the toilet. So funny, I laughed!
ReplyDeleteDarkly humorous and devilishly entertaining. Woe unto that man...
ReplyDeleteI love your dark humour Helen, this rocks along and holds that delicious note of threat in the midst of humour.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Revenge is a dish best not served at all, in this case.
ReplyDeleteHelen, that was me.
