Mish has us concentrating on FISH today in the dVerse Poets Pub ~~ it's Quadrille Monday ~~ and away we go!
that fish!
how many minutes
how many hours
the sound of rollicking laughter
tears running down our cheeks
trying to catch our breaths
in good company:
'twas reported
Queen Elizabeth had a
Big Mouth Billy Bass
displayed on the grand piano
of Balmoral Castle!
A fun quadrille, Helen!
ReplyDeleteLove it! My mother-in-law had one too. Interesting story about the Queen! I think she really did have a funny bone.
ReplyDeleteNic one
ReplyDeleteMuch♡love
This was a lot of fun, Helen. I can hear that cackling fish! 😂
ReplyDeleteI think that fish is singing 'Don't Worry, Be Happy', and your poem fits right in; happy-inspiring, it is.
ReplyDeleteBack in the day, everybody had one!
ReplyDeleteA great poem, Helen. The big mouth bass is quite the novelty!
ReplyDeletesounds like fun
ReplyDeleteHahaha - I can imagine you and Liz having a cup of tea and a good laugh over Billy Bass!
ReplyDeleteI hope she does. I want a Billy Bass. Thank you for this. Very fun poem.
ReplyDeleteOh my! Silly transcends all social statuses, doesn't it? 😂
ReplyDeleteHelen, I love the blend of hilarity and elegance here—“trying to catch our breaths” gave me such a vivid sense of shared joy, and that royal detail at the end absolutely made me grin.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
David

I remember those! I'd heard that about Queen E, too. It's so good to be silly sometimes!
ReplyDeleteA funny one.
ReplyDeleteHi Helen! I once saw a talking fish on a wall. Perhaps the same Billy Bass?!! Queen Elizabeth had a sense of humor outside of being "queen".
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun poem. 🎵do be do be dooo 🎵 hehe
ReplyDeleteI remember that fish! Lol! Great poem, Helen!
