This was something good, it was magical, it was extraordinary ~ I composed this poem for the dVerse Poets shortly after my love passed away in late 2023
Grief
how can it be i am here
you have vanished
beyond my reach
decades since last we met
still i cannot forget
how we touched
how. we. were.
Praise
gifted athlete, amazing tenor
respected businessman, life of the party
irresistible you
fighting cancer with
all your might
until. you. could. not.
Solace
we were not each other's
first, nor last
undoubtedly, the best
i. knew. you knew. we knew.
