Adagio

This was something good, it was magical, it was extraordinary ~ I composed this poem for the dVerse Poets shortly after my love passed away in late 2023

Grief

how can it be i am here

you have vanished

beyond my reach

decades since last we met

still i cannot forget

how we touched

how. we. were.

Praise 

 gifted athlete, amazing tenor

respected businessman, life of the party

irresistible you

fighting cancer with

all your might 

 until. you. could. not.   

Solace

we were not each other's 

first, nor last

undoubtedly, the best

i. knew. you knew. we knew.

If I were ready

I would not crave 

your kiss, your touch

If I were ready

I would tell you I miss you 

miss the ‘us’ we used to be

If I were ready

you could not steal

into my dreams each night

If I were ready

I would confess 

I never stopped loving you

If I were ready

I would admit .. I should have

 said goodbye long before you said it to me

Remembering

let scent be your guide

carefully finger-trace

my curves

intricate patterns

meandering paths 

explore every facet of my terrain

mountains, valleys, oceans, planes

you will not lose the way 

you know my scent well
