Sage Advice From an Old Sage!

Light up that cig

toss back a shot

swallow the pill

[ worst of the lot ]

tennis till dawn

softball in rain

startin' to think

[ you don't have a brain ]

everyone does it

really you say

I know you're wrong

[ the piper you’ll pay ]

time to grow up

sensible / smart

you'll live much longer

[ I love that part ]

Where the Buffalo Roam

oh give me a home
bare bones is fine
i have the vision
i'll make it mine

out here in nature
would not wish for more
got beaver and bison
rivers that flow

home as my castle
happy content
visitors welcome
how life is meant

pantry well stocked
wine fridge is too
garden is bursting
with veggies for you

banjo and bongos
whichever your choice
we will make music
sing with one voice

out in the open
life feels just right
come share the magic
this very night

Hand's Off

 sunflowersandsearchinghearts.tumblr.com

she's a vixen

hiding behind

a tidal wave of hair

she's a vixen

never a victim

armed with formidable powers

ability to flummox your psyche

blur your vision

draw you into a place from

which there is no escape

Heading Home!

“Waiting for Better Days" by Matthias-Haker

When all is said and done

You remain the one

Forever friend of mine

A toast to us with wine

Come sit with me this night

Till morning sun turns bright

We’re older now that’s true

The devil's got his due

We braved it all stood tall

And now we face last call

I thank you this sweet night

For sharing strength and light

We've lived the worst, the best

And yes, we've passed the test

True friendship never dies

No matter our goodbyes

Where They Go To Write

the last place one would go to be seen ~

the point of it all

in the morning hours they write

after lunch they wander past sea-battered cliffs

stopping to absorb the quiet that’s not entirely quiet

the waves, the wind

yet somehow it settles their souls

they are like the sea

not a sunny sea or a stormy sea

but one with long waves

coming in on a smooth beach

under a full moon

a star filled sky

writers in synch

this is poetry in motion

Dance With Me

Dance With Me by "Orleans"
One of my favorite songs in the 70s!

heart beats

in double time

an arrhythmia of sorts

eyes averted / they remain silent

movement / their narrative

step after step

in perfect synchrony

music lifts them

past the setting sun

 beyond the rising moon

American Sentence + One

Cocksure enthusiasm meshed with poor judgement leads to a dark place.

half-baked /
 half-assed

half-bagged / half-there

attemptin' to focus / lovin' on you

from a seriously cock-eyed / point of view

My Phoebe

Christmas morning
I'm seven years old
tree lights are twinkling
tinsel shines gold

'modest' describes us
we seem to get by
under our tree
gifts are stacked high

my eyes must deceive me
could it be true
is that a real doll
with eyes of bright blue

Santa has brought me
what I'd dreamed of all year
a doll I can cherish
a doll to hold dear

years pass by quickly
my Phoebe grows old
one eye is missing
sad sight to behold

love my sweet Phoebe
huge part of my life
I'll fix my dear dolly
fix with a knife

find a replacement
glass eye of bright blue
within a few minutes
Phoebe's brand new

Moving On

hard to taste life thru clenched teeth

while caressing a pitchfork

never mind the forecast

windows wear shades thin as the lives they frame

while lightning rods pray for thunder

the time has come ~

to step clockwise into tomorrow

Pride

love me for who I am
not what you want me to be
what you might wish for me

love me for who I am
do not abandon me
because I am different

love me for who I am
as I endeavor to make my body
fit the essence that is me

love me for who I am
no longer able to hide
behind tears

I was born this way
different, original, strong
love me for who I am
