HO.. HO.. HO..
"Up On The Roof Top"
Up
on a ladder Helen goes
wobbly
legs and twitchy toes
don't
like the sight of ceilings high
'fraid
that she might fall and die
ho
ho ho don't wanna go
ho
ho ho don't wanna go
up
on a ladder quick quick quick
changing
the light bulbs should be slick
found me a grabber don'tcha know
getting the job done ho ho ho
wait
just a sec there's something wrong
prongs
on the grabber way too long
ho
ho ho don't wanna go
ho
ho ho don't wanna go
up
on a ladder quick quick quick
changing
the light bulbs should be slick
up
in the air 'bout twenty feet
feelin'
faint and flushed with heat
not
gonna work for me today
find me a handyman - I will pay
ho
ho ho don't wanna go
ho
ho ho don't make me go
up
on that ladder quick quick quick
changing
the light bulbs quite the trick

Child's Play
http://www.wallcoo.net/
“I’m running away from home
you can't stop me”
And so began my journey.
lucky for me
tracks ran right through our town
lucky for me
tracks ran right through our town
every day ... three freights ... one passenger
I counted 'em!
{ same tracks where my school chum
vernon higgins died ... he was only eight }
I think about him now
as i grab hold, jump aboard
no mean feat for a nine-year old
let me tell you
I have a plan
figure three weeks
is plenty long enough
for them to come
to their senses

Music For The New Year
Last Poem of the Year as 2025 comes to a close in the dVerse Poets Pub ~ It's Open Link night ~ As usual Anything Goes!!!! I traveled way back .. back to 2011 ~ a year of big shifts .. technologically, politically and culturally.

Deal Me In
Hey look me over
white hair and all
livin’ my best years havin’ quite a ball
don’t count me out folks
don’t pass me by
I figure because I’m still here on this earth
you’re stuck with me – oh my
and I’ll be up on my Facebook
Pinterest and more
New Year is coming
don’t know what’s in store
I’m a little bit goofy and full of cheer
so let me give you some
to the New Year
here I come!

Squatters Have Rights
Squatters Have Rights
homeless and hapless
homeless and hapless
few options in sight
they've morphed into squatters
believe it's their right
the system's against them
wearing them down
find empty dwellings
in sketch parts of town
what looms in their future
how long can this last
for now they are squatters
today's fate is cast

Gentle Jam
"Rugby is a good occasion for keeping thirty bullies far from the center of the city" ~ Oscar Wilde
from first drop-kick
through end of the match
bulky forwards and speedy backs
endure painful hits
raking cleats ~ leg knocks
through end of the match
bulky forwards and speedy backs
endure painful hits
raking cleats ~ leg knocks
tough ruggers pretending
they're not bloodied and hurt
~~ because everyone knows
it takes leather balls
to play rugby
they're not bloodied and hurt
~~ because everyone knows
it takes leather balls
to play rugby
"Rugby is a game played by gentlemen
Football is a game played by barbarians"
Oscar Wilde
