Just For Today Come With Me

come with me and you will be
in a world of pure imagination
Wonka land's for everyone
groovy, awesome ~ gobs of fun

a golden ticket will open the gate
a golden ticket will seal your fate

spinning, whirling out of control
closer, closer to the chocolate hole
everlasting gobstoppers, fizzy-lift drinks
cause loud hiccups and burping me thinks

Oompa Loompas, Slugworth too

what will our dear Wonka do

lads and lassies, parents too
deserve their fate, nary a clue

amidst this greedy, hapless troupe
there's one honest boy ~ now here is the scoop

Charlie, sweet Charlie.. gold ticket in hand

luckiest lad in Wonka land!

    1. It wasn't that long ago the movie was aired on one of our TV stations. My favorite movie version and Gene Wilder was pure magic. I cannot count the number of times I've seen it.

  4. I loved the book and also the movie. It's a deep metaphor but fun on the surface. I like what you did here with it, Helen.

    1. Roald Dahl was not pleased with Gene’s performance. Reading the back story is fascinating.

  14. Perfect tone for the movie. I can hear that delight of some, the ruthlessness of others, the sweetness of Charlie (and yes, Willie's lingering creepiness).

  20. I always view it as a slightly sadistic horror film. And Gene Wilder made this role his and no one else could perform it better. This was a fun little memory jog.
