Oh, I really like this. Those "what ifs" can creep right in, can't they? I feel like this could tumble its way into a longer poem. So many possibilities.
Important questions to ponder! How much is fate and how much is consequences of our choices. I'm writing a novella right now that delves into this, or at least making an attempt. I like that there is no answer given here.
