Petals Falling

Lillian is tending bar today in the dVerse Poets Pub ~ ~ Careful with that shoulder, Missy!!!   The word for Quadrille Poems is "Petals"

Pinterest

'neath umbrella's

canopied dome

gorgeous blooms

have found a home

petals whisper

colors bright

softly tremble

in perfumed night

with each gentle fall of silk

a question a prayer

my heart laid bare in fragrant air

he loves me

he loves me not

Don't Ask Me No Questions

Quadrille Monday in the dVerse Poets Pub ~ Kim is hosting ~ the magic word ~ honest!
[ my Sons, ages 64, 63 and 62 ] love to remind me ~ Lynyrd Skynyrd was a favorite ~ I remember him well as his music used to bounce off our walls ]

don’t ask me where I been

I might just tell ya

don’t ask what’s in that cooler

unless you brought ice

don’t ask why the dog's wearin' sunglasses

he's got his reasons

hush up

pass the gravy

that's all the honest you get today

War Is Hell

sun rises over a camouflaged hut

the place you hang helmet / gun

sun shifts on my side of earth

morphs into dark shroud of night

I gaze at the sky

willing the universe send you home

nightfall my downfall

missing you my curse

Work It!

look 'em in the eyes, hold their gaze

work 'em, one by one

adopt an air of nonchalance, sexy

the undone button

loose strand of hair across your face

expose shoulders

collarbones always were your best feature

you know how to work a crowd

The Critique

chalk it up to

poorly mixed metaphors

muddled thought processes when composing

pretend you didn't read it

there is nothing to be gained

and really

praise would go straight to your head

abuse would linger for months

chuck it all

move on

chalk happens

Wheeeeee

Lillian is focused on the end of 2021!!

careening through life

blips, blurs on our storyboards

you the subject me your predicate

diagrammed with flawless precision

we crossed invisible boundaries

boulevards lined with see through trees

umbrellas dripping, shimmering in full sunlight

you the painter me the poser

a perfect double exposure

Totally Stupid

Fun in the Pub!

gal in great need

she’s gone to seed

stuck months inside

one long hard ride

feeling much guilt

‘bout how she’s built

used to be svelte

suitors would melt

muscle has vanished

claiming she’s famished

it’s all in her head ~

pass the French Bread

Marking Time

Photography, Helen Dehner

When circumstances forced me to
Spend my days at home
Away from friends and jolly jaunts
No longer free to roam ..

I gathered empty bottles
And turned them into art
A dab of this a swish of that
I took my craft to heart

Possibilities ....

what if,

as i was leaving,

i confessed every transgression

every possible slip of tongue

would you take me back

what if,

as i was leaving,

i turned and said

‘you know, i’m still in love with you’

would you tell me it’s over

The Verdict

De is playing host in the dVerse Poets Pub this fine day ~
time for a Quadrille ~ focus is on the word "FIX"

under the microscope

affixed to a glass slide

edges smooth and polished

a slice of tissue rests ~

a lovely blend of shapes

colors a work of art ~

she sits, she waits

she sips, she hopes

acutely aware her future

offers no promises
