In the Pub ~~ All About 'Bother'
she murmured it more times
than I can possibly count
‘I don’t want to be a bother’
my reply always the same
‘mama, you could never be a bother’
and for five precious years
she wasn’t .. amidst confusion, tears
anxiety, fear .. never a bother

A mother can never be a bother... what a great connection
ReplyDeleteThis is incredibly moving, Helen. *teary-eyed*💝
ReplyDeleteMy mother was the same, Helen, and your quadrille reminded me of her. Tears here too.

ReplyDeleteI say that so often to my son and wife. Mommas who always took care of everyone find it difficult when the roles are reversed. Such a loving poem, Helen!

ReplyDeleteMothers meant good but they feel they might cause us inconveniences. They are gems in whatever situations. Sadly the impatient might respond negatively and it hurts! Great thoughts Helen!

ReplyDeleteMrs. Jim had about that also, we moved her to Texas from Louisiana on a ruse of going for a ride. But when she said se was ready to go home, Mr. Jim told her that she had a new home, that all her furniture was here. My BIL's and I moved her stuff while they were riding an visiting.

Such love summed up in your 44 words and five years. Never a bother I am sure, and she left you with a full heart. X
