The Critique

chalk it up to

poorly mixed metaphors

muddled thought processes when composing

pretend you didn't read it

there is nothing to be gained

and really

praise would go straight to your head

abuse would linger for months

chuck it all

move on

chalk happens

  1. Your impish self came to the fore, Miss Helen. Chalk it up to a quirk of fate! Chalk happens indeed!

  2. Never heard THAT one before!! Actually I was quite naive about sayings like that for a long time. Age 35 plus at least. Kids were probably saying that in high school but I missed it. I missed a lot.
    But it's perfect here today.

  5. Dearest Helen,
Haha, at Fashion Design school we also used chalk for marking the hemline.
either hard chalk or such a stand that was adjustable with a puff ball to spray chalk on it... While the person was wearing the skirt, pants or dress and was spinning around.
    We got marked!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    1. Exactly! I produce more than a few. But one has to keep on keeping on.

  8. I am resisting a chalking pun - I enjoyed this very much Helen (even if it does go to your head!).
