Valentine's Day ~ Still

Sanaa is hosting Poetics in the Pub reminding pub-goers that February 14th is fast approaching ~~ a day of expressing and receiving love!

Encore Post for Poets & Storytellers Friday Writings

Love is not simply
roses in a vase
nor the wild rush
of youthful passion

'tis echoes of laughter
in an empty room
sweet warmth of voices
laced in the air

love does not leave
it lingers in
stories I tell
and faces I once
traced like poetry ~

'tis a bittersweet day
but I am still here
heart wide open
writing new chapters ~

  1. I absolutely love this - especially; "love does not leave it lingers in stories I tell
voices, faces I once traced like poetry." Yes absolutely! Thank you so much for writing to the prompt, Helen ❤️❤️

  3. Your poem gives me hope, Helen, and I really feel the love in it. I especially love the lines:
    ‘love does not leave
    it lingers in
    stories I tell
    voices, faces I once
    traced like poetry’.

  7. I love the final statement "I am not done yet". Everyone out of love should have that ready and waiting for those moments they doubt. A true Valentine sentiment.

    1. I liked this end statement too though not sure if it would apply to myself anymore. I am happily in love with my wife and cannot contemplate starting all over again if anything happened to her. Having said that I may feel differently if I was in that situation.

  10. heart wide open - that's the thing, isn't it...if we lose that, we lose everything. Love is the compass and touchstone, so right.
